Our Mission
UNIC New Delhi serves as a focal point for news and information about the UN for audiences in India and Bhutan.
UNIC also participates in observances of international days, years and decades. Commemorations take many forms and may include presentations involving national or local dignitaries, workshops, seminars, educational programmes, sporting events, and musical performances.
Our Activities
• Providing information on the United Nations to media, governmental and non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, academic and other research centres and think-tanks, educators and students, among others.
• Publicizing UN initiatives and programmes
• Organizing briefings on the work of the United Nations
• Assisting UN agencies in India with their communication strategies and information needs
• Partnering with national and state government ministries and departments in the observance of International Days.
• Partnering with civil society to organise seminars, colloquiums, conferences and dialogues on diverse UN themes and priorities.
• Collaborating with youth-centred initiatives such as Model UN conferences.
The UNIC Library holds a collection of official UN documents and basic texts and is open to the public.
Guest Speaker - Akhil Ennamsetty
Mr. Akhil Ennamsetty is currently the Chief of the Advisory Council of The International Union of Students.
The International Union of Students (IUS) being the umbrella organization for 155 students' organizations across 112 countries is the largest body of students in the world which represents approximately 25 million students. IUS is recognised by the United Nations Organization granting it a Consultative Status in UNESCO.
Mr. Ennamsetty is a known figure in the arena of international student political affairs and has also worked closely with the national level students organisations in India.
Mr. Ennamsetty has been the consultant negotiator of Indian Chapter for the recent developments in The United Nations INTERNATIONAL COVENANT ON CIVIL AND POLITICAL RIGHTS. He is a diplomat of IUS’ headquarter at Czech Republic and also a consultant to UNESCO on its Program on Youth & Political Affairs.
Mr. Ennamsetty is a foreign council member of the prestigious The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Washington D.C. and also an invited student member of The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Kolkata.
Mr. Ennamsetty is an enthusiast in science and he has been applauded by the prestigious International Space Science Institute (ISSI), Switzerland for his innovative research in the field of Nuclear and Space Science, which has been termed by them as a revolution in the sector.
He has worked closely with many institutions of pride and represented the State and the country on various national and international platforms.
Apart from all these, Mr. Ennamsetty is also a freelance investigative journalist working with the international media houses.
Completely on the other side of the coin, he is a mainstream law student.
And all of these, come together and make this twenty year old youngster.
